Our story is one of the ultimate underdog
After being kicked out of the league in 1983, we never gave up. We refused to let go of the dream, and over time, we’ve clawed our way back into the NSW Premier League. In 1990, we re-emerged into the NSW Metro’ cup, playing in front of a lone man and his dog. Over the years, the club’s ever-faithful volunteers pounded the hipster streets of Newtown and Marrickville like true rugby league warriors, delivering game day flyers letterbox to letterbox, pub to pub. Truth be told it was more like a weekly pub crawl through the growing number of local breweries. Special shout-out to the legends at Philter, one of our proud team sponsors, for helping to fuel the journey.
This relentless dedication sparked a fire that spread from the streets of Newtown and Sydney’s Inner West to rugby league fans across Australia. Because when the Jets are involved, the passion can’t be contained—no matter how many schooners you had to sink, and flat whites you had to dodge while spreading the word!
Today, we still proudly call Henson Park our home – the jewel in the crown of rugby league. No matter the size of the crowd, you'll always find a sea of blue and white, a dedicated army of 8,972 fans always in attendance, IYKYK. The heart of the Jets beats strong in the community, and we’ll never stop fighting for our team. Together, we are Newtown Jets!
Go the Jets!
